Welcome to Pickering Village
Downtown Pickering Village
Along Ajax’s only historic main street, Old Kingston Road, you can’t miss the sight of Pickering Village. Originally a Quaker settlement, Pickering Village is home to a group of historic Tudor-style buildings arranged around a courtyard, now housing businesses from an ice cream shop to a hair salon. Pickering Village, settled in 1807, still contains many original buildings: The Gordon House, built in 1881, was a hotel known for its excellent food; Casa Verde, an Italian restaurant is housed in an 1890 building that originally served as a birthing house, and later as a rum runners hideout. For more than a decade Pickering Village has been home to JamFest, an annual summer music festival.
Now, more than ever, Pickering Village’s local culinary businesses have become the heart of our community.
About Pickering Village BIA
Vibrant and Healthy
The Pickering Village Business Improvement Area (PVBIA) was formed in 1993 to serve the combined businesses of the BIA community area. The retail businesses, professional services, art exhibitions and sales, and more offer quality professional services, delivered with a personal touch. The Pickering Village BIA is made up of an elected Board of Directors, Committees formed by Pickering Village business owners, and a small staff dedicated to the continued growth and prosperity of the Village. Their mandate is to promote Pickering Village as the vibrant and healthy commercial, retail, residential, and entertainment centre of the region, attracting more people to live, shop, work, and gather.
