Welcome to Whitby

Downtown Whitby

Downtown Whitby is a destination with historic architecture and an eclectic mix of businesses and services. From the verandas of Pearson Lanes’ boutiques housed in a historic development, to the distinctive restaurants and shops surrounding the ‘four corners’ at Dundas and Brock streets, Downtown Whitby is home to more than 450 businesses. In a typical year, Whitby hosts over 200 community events, including the Whitby Farmer's Market (May to October), Whitby Heritage Day, Beer Fest, and Christmas Market.

The beautiful buildings and architecture give the downtown core a charm that you simply can’t find in modern-day shopping centres.

About Whitby

Shop Late, Shop Local

The Downtown Whitby BIA was officially formed in 2017 with the mantra to "Get feet on the street and dollars in the doors." They are responsible for many of the 200+ community events, as well as other local initiatives such as Shop Late, Shop Local, and the Perks Program in conjunction with the Whitby Public Library.

Member businesses contribute to a municipal program that assists in building awareness of all the great things that you can see and do, here, as well as keeping it “customer ready”; and, they help govern the BIA as volunteer members on its Board of Management and various committees.
